Phobia: Philosophy, Science and The Space in Between Things, 2016
Installation, Mixed Media, Dimensions Variable
This work is about a subconscious knowledge of materials within conditioned response by physical properties of materials. By using a mixture of mediums, the work deals with the relationship between materials and object; how they act and respond to the elements, how they activate human senses and, although inanimate, how they react to each other. Using rigidity, flaccidity and density as a symbol, the works will depict qualities of materials through architectural reference, resulting in sculptures, installation painting and drawings which will be both simple in forms of figures and complex in their unusual pairings and juxtapositions of surface. Moving through the space spectators become marked as abstract forms to become structures themselves as the installation depicts the physical change and physical properties within it, with an optical effect that takes away one and takes away both or two sides of one occasion.
