‘As If is Organic Molecule’, 2015
Installation, Painting, Acrylic on Wooden Panel, 300*300mm
We have a subconscious knowledge of the materials that surround us, animated bodies within the physical environment: how they act and respond to the elements, how they activate our human senses and, although inanimate, how they react to each other. This work creates a parallel interface between the distribution of spatial patterns and human bone tissue. In a technically advanced society this becomes transformed into an intergeneric, hybrid biology through chemical and physical components.
This work is perceived as a bio-polymer relationship which is as intransigent as the high-order structure itself, thus fracturing our perception of reality. Here it is shaped differently with different molecular recognition reflecting an indifferent quality. The work is an investigation into the changes within architectural structure and responds to developments in science and technology. The resulting paintings form hybrid figures which respond to with changes within the elements of the wall and the minute fluctuations and variations of pattern with the structural fabric.
